We all know Aries Spears for his spot-on celebrity impersonations, and for his time as a cast member on MAD TV. He’s also had a recurring role in A Different World and appeared in Jerry Maguire. Recently, he’s made headlines due to the allegations against him and fellow comedian Tiffany Haddish. The countless news stories prompted us to dig a bit deeper into Aries’ private life, and we discovered that Aries Spears’ love life is a hot stankin’ mess.
A troubled relationship
In 1997, Aries became a cast member on Mad TV, and sometime around 1998, he and a woman named Shelayne Turner welcomed a baby girl named Jazz. We’re unsure of the dynamics of their relationship, but by 2003, Aries was popping up on the red carpet with a woman named Frankee Rivera.
Things with Frankee didn’t last either. And at some point, he met a mother of two named Elisa Larregui. They began cohabitating, and in court docs obtained by RRG, things started to go downhill around 2008.
Elisa told the court that Aries lost his temper with her daughter, who was three at the time, resulting in her daughter allegedly having a popped blood vessel in her eye.
Elisa went on to detail a history of Aries putting his hands on her and verbal altercations, but their relationship continued, and she gave birth to their son Jordan in December 2009. Less than a month after welcoming their son, he and Elisa allegedly got into a physical altercation, and Elisa revealed that Aries was locked up on a domestic charge.
They kept chugging along and became husband and wife in December 2010. Over the course of the next few years, Elisa detailed their living situation, which was a complete nightmare that put her and their children’s lives in danger.
A divorce & a restraining order
By February 2013, Elisa had had enough. She filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Days later, she filed a restraining order against Aries after he allegedly threatened to hit her with a baseball bat.
She asked for full custody of their son, who was three years old at the time, and according to TMZ, Aries willingly gave up custody of the child in March 2013. He also agreed to stay 100 yards away from Elisa.
Elisa ultimately decided to relocate back to Florida with their son and her other children. She was only making a little over $1,300 dollars per month, and, despite leaving Mad TV in 2005, Aries was bringing in close to $50,000 dollars per month. So he was on the hook for all of her expenses, and there were some very specific requirements put in place by the court.
Aries was ordered to purchase Elisa a home in Coral Springs, Florida, with a price tag between $300,000 and $375,000 dollars. He also had to give her $7,000 dollars to cover her moving expenses from California to Florida.
The court also ordered him to buy her a 2014 Cadillac Escalade with a sticker price between $60,000 and $75,000 dollars. He also agreed to pay Elisa $5,000 dollars per month in child support, and he obtained a $1 million dollar life insurance policy with his children as the beneficiaries. As for Aries, he kept his home in the San Fernando Valley, a 2012 Escalade, and a 2008 Lexus.
Aries and Elisa reconcile
But here’s where things get messy. Their divorce was finalized in May 2014, and a month later, Elisa gave birth to their daughter, Jada.
So while the press was reporting the news about their divorce settlement, Aries and Elisa were still working through their relationship issues. In court docs, Elisa stated that one day, they were discussing their problems on the second story of their home. According to Elisa, Aries was extremely emotional on that particular day and threatened to end his life. He allegedly reached for a weapon, and it discharged.
Thankfully, the bullet was shot toward the floor, and only struck a cabinet and a water pipe on the first floor of their home.
According to Elisa, Aries was able to convince her he was a changed man, and they got remarried in May 2015. Elisa shared their wedding photo on Facebook, and RRG noticed that none of her friends or family members congratulated the couple in the comments section.
Elisa and Aries separate
Their relationship continued to decline. Things got so bad that Elisa claimed Aries began monitoring her every movement. In her court documents, she wrote, that Aries, quote, “checks the camera remotely and then becomes paranoid, delusional, and aggressive in demanding to know where I was.”
So, in August 2016, they separated. By this point, Aries was making close to a million dollars per year, and Elisa was unemployed. In court documents, Elisa stated Aries cut her off financially following their separation, and he allegedly told her he wouldn’t give her any money unless she engaged in intimate activities. Elisa wrote, “Just to receive $200 for grocery shopping on Monday, I had to comply.”
She also submitted screenshots of text messages from Aries where he threatened to sell the house she was living in and the vehicle she was using. Elisa responded by telling him to stop by the house at 11 p.m. and to bring contraceptives.
Shelayne gets back in the picture
During their separation, Elisa claimed Aries’s eldest daughter’s mother, Shelayne moved in. Shelayne stayed in the home up until Aries told her to leave, which was sometime around May 2018. In court documents, it was alleged that Shelayne gets upset and reportedly acts out whenever Aries chooses to be with Elisa.
In October 2017, Elisa filed a restraining order against Shelayne, and she referred to Shelayne as Aries’s mistress in the court filing.
Elisa alleged Shelayne had been harassing her for close to a decade, including the time Shelayne allegedly attacked her with a crowbar back in 2012. A judge signed off on the restraining order request, and when Shelayne asked for protection against Elisa as well, the women mutually agreed to keep their distance from each other.
In June 2018, Elisa and Aries attempted another reconciliation. When she moved back into their home, she found what she described as “Satanic/Voodoo threats” that Shelayne had allegedly written on the walls.
Elisa allegedly lived under surveillance
And things between Elisa and Aries weren’t getting any better either. While he was out on the road, Aries would allegedly check the outdoor cameras to keep track of every time she left and came into the house.
Another divorce & crazy allegations
Elisa claimed she was constantly being yelled at and threatened by Aries. If she didn’t answer her phone when he called, he would get upset and would send her angry text messages.
In November 2018, the couple filed for divorce again. And a week later, Elisa filed another temporary restraining order against Shelayne. Elisa claimed that when Aries found out about the restraining order against Shelayne, he made physical threats against Elisa. So, Elisa filed a restraining order against Aries as well on behalf of herself, the two children she shared with Aries, and her daughter from a previous relationship, who was 14 at the time.
In court documents, Elisa described Aries’ erratic behavior and claimed he smokes MJ and drinks tequila and vodka daily. As she dealt with his alleged physical and verbal threats, Elisa claimed Aries was also teaching their youngest child curse words.
To back up her claims, she submitted a ton of evidence to the court, including bullet holes and fist marks in the walls of their home, knuckle imprints on the fridge, a photo of a broken champagne bottle, pictures of her bruises, and still images of what appears to be a confrontation between her and Aries that was captured on their in-home surveillance system.

Aries was ordered to pay close to $10,000 per month in child support and Elisa was awarded a divorce settlement of close to $140,000 dollars made in separate monthly payments.
Those Aries & Tiffany Haddish allegations
In 2020, Aries co-hosted the Adult Video News Awards, and when he showed up on the red carpet, guess who was his date?…. Shelayne.
And that brings us to August 2022. Just days after publicly mocking Lizzo on a podcast by saying she looks like the poop emoji, Aries and Tiffany Haddish were accused by a woman and her younger brother of grooming them and coercing them to film inappropriate comedy sketches when they were children.
In an Instagram post, Tiffany wrote, “While the sketch was intended to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all — and I deeply regret having agreed to act in it.”
In a statement, Aries’ lawyer said her client, quote, “isn’t going to fall for any shakedown.”
We’ll have to wait and see how this case plays out and which lady will be by Aries’s side when it’s all said and done.
