Real Housewives of New Jeresey's Joe and Teresa Giudice showed up to court early today and the sentencing hearing was dragged on for HOURS. Seriously, Joe was sentenced at about noon eastern time and Teresa didn't receive her fate until 4:30 p.m. eastern. In the end, the couple will both be doing time in the federal pen. Teresa received 15 months for the part she played in defrauding the federal government and Juicy Joe got a whopping 41 months. Teresa is scheduled to turn herself in on January 5th, 2015. At least she gets to spend the holidays with her girls?
This is effed up to the max. Everyone who watches the show knows that Teresa ain't that smart to be falsifying W-2's, neglecting to file tax returns, and forging documents in order to obtain loans. This was all Joe's doing but since they are married, and Teresa is ride or die, she will have to take the fall with him. Luckily, they will not serve their sentences at the same time so their daughters will always have at least one parent at home with them.
During the sentencing, Teresa said some pretty interesting things such as, she doesn't care about the Real Housewives show, the show was scripted and staged, and that the production company furnished her home for tapings. As one of my Twitter followers mentioned (hey Matty!), this is clearly the end of the road for the Giudices and Bravo TV. There's no way Andy Cohen will let her back on the show after those comments. I will miss seeing her on my t.v. screen and I'm not even sure if I'll continue to watch the series after her departure. The New Jersey series is nothing without her. They better bring back Danielle Staub if they plan on saving this sinking shop.
I know Teresa and Joe are dead wrong for what they did but at the same time, I feel for them and their family. It's a double edged sword. You do the crime, you pay the time. However, I hate to see a family torn apart like this, it truly sucks. I don't care what anyone says, I wish the Giudices did not have to go through all of this. I wish they would have stayed their azzes off of reality t.v. and continued to defraud the government in obscurity. Ok, I'm kidding. But really though, reality t.v. puts a spotlight on these nobodies and in the end, it always turns out ugly.
What do you think about Teresa and Joe Giudice serving time in federal prison?
